SANTO DOMINGO

In 2012 CHL Chile acquired an historic building in Santo Domingo hill in Valparaiso. The project took 3 years of developement and was separated in 2 stages, and a total of 23 units, including lofts, and 2 and 3 bedrooms apartments, with affordable selling prices with access to housing public aid for vulnerable and medium income families with high quality construction, specially designed considering the local reality of the city and respect for the city architecture.

The "Santo Domingo 2" project is, in part, the re-use of a historic building from 1890, located on the emblematic Santo Domingo hill. The basis of the project is the characteristics of the original property, its volume, the interior courtyard, the direct accesses from the street and the materiality: solid on the 1st floor and light structure on the upper floors. The apartments are oriented towards a local client, to give habitat to the children of the people of the sector, and for the population in general, who will be able to finance their new home with a bank loan and the state contribution through a housing subsidy. To comply with the motto of the repopulation of the center it is necessary to offer housing for families who work in this city, which have an adequate cost for the type of inhabitant who lives there and that mean a significant improvement with respect to the rental of housing in poor conditions or emigration to new neighborhoods on the periphery of the city.
